Star Wars minifigure parts trends on Bricklink

LEGO’s Star Wars license may be one of the most successful toy tie-ins ever. Over 1000 sets have been released in the theme since it launched in 1999.

And the minifigs have been there since the beginning. Bricklink recognizes nearly 3,000 in the Star Wars theme, and they dominate the best-seller list for both new and used figures.

The associated market for accessories and individual figures parts is also steady and strong. In the six months leading up to February 10, 2025 over 6 million individual figure parts and accessories from Star Wars sets were sold.

  • There was a seasonal drop in the quantity sold during the week of Christmas and the New Year holidays.
  • The week-to-week quantities for new parts was widely variable, possibly because new parts are more often sold in bulk.
  • The trend in weekly quantity sold was mostly flat, with a very slight upward trend.

The average sale prices for Star Wars figure parts and accessories were consistent over the same period, around $0.30 for new parts and $0.50 for used (USD quantity sold average).

Insights:

  • SW parts followed the overall parts trend with used parts selling for more than new. This may reflect higher prices for discontinued parts, or fewer sales at discounted bulk prices.
  • The overall trend in quantity average price was mostly flat for both new and used parts, trending slightly downward.

Breaking down the volume and prices by category, the decorated torso assemblies reverse the overall trend, with used parts far outselling new ones, but at a lower average price.

The same factors may be at work here, however, stemming from the popularity of creating large-scale battle dioramas. These builders may be looking for deals on large quantities of decorated torso assemblies to build clone armies and rebel troops.
